About Me
Councilmember Beasley is a lifelong Kentuckian and a proud resident of District 8. She has been a community leader and served as PTA President for Tates Creek High School since 2021. Outside of Council, Amy works for the Kroger Pharmacy. In this role, she also serves as the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Chief Stewart for the local 227 chapter, as well as President of the Bluegrass Central Labor Council. Advocating for the rights of her fellow employees has been a role she has proudly held for over 20 years. As the mother of four children and a dedicated mentor in our community, Amy decided to run for council to address the needs of children in her district. Fighting food insecurity, barriers to mental health support and addressing the root causes of youth gun violence are the top priorities for her on council. Amy serves on the Social Services and Public Safety Council Committee and the Environmental Quality and Public Works Council Committee. She is a 2013 graduate of Emerge Kentucky, a program that trains women to run for public office. She is proud to be the first female councilmember ever elected to represent the 8th District. She considers it an honor and privilege to serve in this seat.
About District 8
The 8th council district is comprised of several neighborhoods, each with a distinct character. Public spaces within the area include Gainesway Park, River Hill Park, Hartland Park and Berry Hill Skate Park, as well as the Tates Creek Community Center and the Tates Creek Golf Course & Aquatic Center. Unique to the eighth council district is the Tates Creek School campus, which has elementary, middle and high schools within walking distance from each other. The Academy for Leadership at Millcreek Elementary, Squires Elementary and Seton Catholic Elementary are also within the district. Created in the late 1950s through the 1970s, the 8th council district has a strong sense of community and tradition.
Service
Amy has worked to secure funding for upgrades to Gainesway Park and Hartland Park, ensuring safer and more accessible spaces for families. She led efforts to improve traffic flow on Tates Creek Road, making it easier for local businesses to thrive. Amy also collaborated with the Tates Creek Community Center to expand youth programs, providing more opportunities for young residents. Her hands-on approach has made a tangible impact on the daily lives of District 8 residents, fostering a stronger, more connected community.
Community
Amy is deeply committed to strengthening the bonds within District 8 by creating opportunities for residents to connect and thrive. She has organized neighborhood clean-up events in Gainesway and River Hill, bringing together local volunteers to improve public spaces. By fostering these community-driven initiatives, Amy ensures that District 8 remains a place where everyone feels heard, valued, and part of a shared vision for the future.
Accountability
Amy is dedicated to transparency and ensuring that the needs of District 8 are met with integrity and responsibility. She regularly holds open office hours, giving residents direct access to voice concerns and receive updates on ongoing projects. Amy also publishes regular reports on district spending and progress, so constituents can easily track how their tax dollars are being used.
